I read all over my 2014 posts comments and saw a strange phenomenal – Soul Mate theme somehow became a center of all. People are fascinated with the vision of being loved on soul level — “as you are, no matter what!” So let us carry on with my soul mate posting.…just because your love soul mate might be on the way to your life.
One of the most commonly held misconceptions about the soul mate connection is that we have no choice in the matter. This could not be further from the truth. The only thing that true love, itself is, is a choice. In fact, in order for it to be true love, it has to be based in a constant series of choices. Making the choice each and every day, in some cases. Either you love or you don’t. There is no zodiac sign, no karmic tie, no mystical connection that will force you to love someone and there aren’t any that will force someone to not love you. It’s a choice. All too often, people mistakenly believe that love is simply a feeling, when in fact, the bulk of it is contingent upon action.
This is one of the multitude of reasons that love is often a difficult path. Because it requires that we do something. Love is much more than simply buying chocolates on a certain day or holding a door open. We may have to put our own needs on the back burner. Even so, we know the potential of soul mates is everywhere, and you can start to get some of those Astrology Answers by first taking a peek at your birth chart.
Each and every situation the choice of potential soul mates is everywhere.
The choice of potential soul mates is everywhere….
Love astrology and the soul mate potential is also very much impacted by outside influences and it’s unrealistic to think otherwise. Consider a moment the serious relationships you have been in, and the impact of finances on them. When finances are good, are you less stressed and therefore more open to loving? When they are bad, are you more prone to bickering and therefore, more closed off?
Conversely, when finances are good, sometimes temptation leads people astray. When they are bad, some couples band together and grow stronger. Each and every situation the choice of potential soul mates is everywhere. If you and your partner have to make more choices than say, you and a friend, this doesn’t mean that friend is your soul mate, it doesn’t mean your partner is not. It simply means that you are facing more challenges as a couple, and, being as soul mates are intended to foster growth in one another, may indicate just the opposite.
You can either allow those struggles to tear you down or build you up. But ultimately, the choice is still yours to make. And the karma, still yours to contend with.
The Planets, Karma, and Destiny…..
First, to determine any sort of destiny, you look at the positions of the nodes in someone’s birth chart. In both the natal and the composite chart, as well as a synastry report, you’ll find a few key factors denoting the destiny of a person or couple.
In terms of fate, however, particularly when it comes to relationships, you’re going to want to look at something known as “Destiny’s Gate”. It’s actually called the Vertex and is an axis, the other side being predictably the anti-vertex. This is simply where you see the Prime Meridian coming to meet the Sun’s ecliptic orbits.
Bear in mind, though, when I pull a composite chart on even an unhappily married couple, I might find that in their charts, too. As a matter of fact, in some of the most horrendous relationships I’ve helped people through? It’s there. Why? Because it lends a feeling of being unable to break away from it, a feeling of being bound by fate. In short, trapped.
So, depending on other factors in a chart, you might want to make Destiny’s Gate a revolving door if that’s the case. If you’re just learning astrology, that might be a little bit more than you want to get into, though and the Nodes are easier. We call the nodes the Dragon’s Head and Tail.
They are huge when it comes to look into any kind of karma, either your own or, that of a relationship. In connections with any kind of karmic tie, you’re going to be looking for the way that the Nodes conjunct the partner’s Angular Axis. That is, the ascendant, the descendant, the Medium Coeli (The MC) or the Imum Coeli (The IC). Additionally, you will want to see if that conjuncts a personal planet with the node of the partner, and pay careful attention to any oppositions or squares.
You can get a very basic idea of destiny and karma in relationships from the North Node and South Node in your birth chart.
Soul Mate or Karmic Indicators For Beginners
I mention all of the above because all too often, we see “soul mate” or karmic readings that actually don’t go into the aspects of the chart that cover those very subjects. I have had more than one brought to me by a client who was confused, only to find that the astrologer in question had only barely even scratched the surface. Again, we see the absolute importance of a fully prepared birth chart. But, what if you’d like to look into your own chart to check things out?
You can get a very basic idea of destiny and karma in your birth chart from both the North Node and of course, the South Node. Whatever your North Node is, your South Node will be the opposite. The North Node will tell you all the experiences, karmic lessons, and other factors to help you grow spiritually. The South will give you an idea of all of those traits within us that we use the North Node to develop.
So, the easiest way to determine the karmic lesson at play in any given relationship is to look at what planet conjuncts that North Node. From there, take away the lessons you see in that, for instance if Venus is conjunct the North Node, you’d expect that almost “love at first sight” connection. However, while you might get fluttery hearts and bellies: that’s not the most fated relationship.
Mars conjunct North Node can be. Mars conjunct North Node typically indicates that incredibly fated feeling relationship and also a lot of intensity in both positive and negative ways.
Is It a Soul Mate or Is It Memorex?
The truth is, there has been debate over what may or may not indicate a soul mate connection in a composite or synastry for almost as long as people have been doing them. There is nothing really set in stone and it’s going to be down to how you define soul mate, and what you feel that encompasses. If you’re just looking to see if this is the sort of once in a lifetime, end all be all long term relationship? You don’t need to call it “soul mate”. Factors that will denote that are all over composite charts and it’s fairly simple to discern.
This is one of the multitude of reasons that love is often a difficult path. Because it requires that we do something. Love is much more than simply buying chocolates on a certain day or holding a door open.
We may have to put our own needs on the back burner…or not?
